Twickenham Stadium, home of English rugby, has further underlined its sustainability credentials by receiving a new accreditation, this time from Greengage through its ECOsmart initiative.

The venue achieved Gold Standard from ECOsmart, with the accreditation joining other endorsements of the venue’s commitment to sustainable events, including BS20121, ISO14001, and its own commitment to achieving net zero. The venue is also a pioneer in sustainable event food, with a ‘Zero waste to landfill policy’ for the past eight years, a commitment to prepare and cook 95% of food on site, using at least 80% British ingredients, with all cooking oil recycled.

“We have a long-standing commitment to sustainable events, but it remains vital that we continue to benchmark our standards and provide our customers with evidence of the quality of what we do,” said Nils Braude, Managing Director, Twickenham Experience Limited. “This is just the latest example of a highly credible organization supporting what we do, and we are pleased to have entered at Gold Level. It is a great show of support for our team.”

Andrew Perolls, CEO of Greengage, added: “Twickenham Stadium ticked all the boxes when it came to being awarded the Gold Standard ECOsmart accreditation. It is a company that continuously examines what it is doing in the field of sustainability and challenges itself internally. They are also a sharing company and have made great strides in passing on what they learn to other companies; this is an important part of our pursuit of an even more sustainable industry.”
