Meet In Wales is set to embrace one of its key markets as it looks to build on its long-standing relationship with US companies at IMEX America next week. The North American market represents a huge opportunity for the meetings and events industry in Wales and during the show the destination will be supported by four partners to capitalize on the increased global focus on Wales.
As part of its participation in the event, Meet In Wales will continue its focus on the field of Life Sciences, one of the growing sectors in Wales, with academic and business communities and research centers influencing scientific knowledge and behavior around the world.
Meet In Wales will also work with partners ICC Wales, The Celtic Collection, the Orchard agency and Destination Cardiff, who will showcase some of the best locations, destinations and creative agencies the country has to offer. Together the companies will also build on the tremendous exposure the destination has experienced through high-profile projects such as the efforts of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Wrexham Football Club.
“There has never been a more exciting time for Wales to come to the US. As a country we have always had an affinity with people in North America and our profile has not been higher,” said Heledd Williams, Head of Business Events at Meet in Wales. “Thomas Jefferson always said that the Welsh ‘are great Americans.’ He always praised us for our ability to bring trade with us, and I like to think that’s what we’re doing this week, not just for the US, but for all the international companies we’ll meet.”
“Since then, Wales has continued to have a similarly positive impact on the world, with global Welsh continuing to build businesses, trade and influence,” Heledd continued. “It is in this spirit that we are really looking forward to connecting with our colleagues around the world and presenting even more reasons why Wales can provide that mix between an aspiring global business community and a warm and welcoming events destination,” concludes Heledd.
Danielle Bounds, Sales Director, ICC Wales said: “Wales has benefited from big screen exposure through TV shows and films including Welcome to Wrexham and His Dark Materials, so it is an exciting time to be exhibiting at IMEX America for the very first time. We released our report at the beginning of this year Event force – a force for good, which demonstrates the impact events have in driving social and economic change within local communities and destinations. I look forward to discussing this further with the North American and wider international market and promoting our award-winning location at ICC Wales.”
Rachel Phillips, sales director of The Celtic Collection said: “Our small country has much to offer the international market, from beautiful scenery and excellent local produce to world-class locations and hotels. The Celtic Collection has an extensive offering, from the iconic 5-star Celtic Manor Resort to the luxurious Cardiff city center property, The Parkgate Hotel and the picturesque Newbridge on Usk; there is something for every budget and need. I can’t wait to introduce the international market to our properties at IMEX America and continue to showcase our beautiful country.”
Faye Tanner, Head of Business Events & Commercial Partnerships at City of Cardiff Council, added: “I am very pleased to be representing Cardiff, the capital of Wales, at IMEX America this year.
Cardiff is a vibrant business events destination with a mix of meeting venues and memorable attendee experiences. With a compact, walkable city center and a waterfront location, Cardiff’s culture, fascinating heritage and exciting sports are key strengths to incorporate into a conference programme.”
Orchard managing director Jim Carpenter said: “Orchard offers a fully integrated event and destination management solution globally, delivering high-quality, tailor-made VIP guest experiences wherever we work. As a proud Welsh company, we love promoting Wales’ rich offering to the international business visitor and are committed to helping all organizations considering Wales as a destination. We are excited to be part of Team Wales at IMEX US for the first time to show what we can do.”
